Annoying girl at movie theater

Post by addictedtosims90 on Fri Mar 16, 2012 2:58 am

Over the weekend, me and the hubby watched Silent House. I won't give away too much about the movie just in case there is anyone out there who wants to see it. Let me just say, Elizabeth Olsen (younger sister of the Olsen twins) did an amazing job. The other two main actors weren't too great, although their acting did get better toward the end of the movie.

The movie was good in a way that it kept you on the edge of your seat. It was very suspenseful. Elizabeth Olsen did a great job of really making you feel the panic and the fear that she felt. She was very convincing. The movie also had a great twist at the end. Also, another very unique thing about the movie was that it appeared to have been filmed all in one take! I don't know if its possible to shoot a whole movie all in one take or if they were just really good at making it look at way.... but either way, I was very impressed by it. Not to mention, there were a few scenes that were just downright creepy.

Anyway, there was this one girl in the movie theater who apparently thought it would be necessary to scream every 10 minutes! Everytime something remotely scary would happen, she would scream! Her screaming made me jump more than the actual movie! I wanted to just smack her on the back of the head and say SHUT UP!

Seriously why do people do this? I find it hard to believe that she was really that scared. The movie had some scary parts but she was screaming at stuff that wasn't even that scary. I think she was probably just being a drama queen and wanted to draw attention to herself. If she really was as scared as she wanted everyone to think she was, then she doesn't need to watch horror movies. She's going to give herself a heart attack!

So all in all, I thought the movie was fairly good but the experience would have been much more enjoyable had we not had to deal with that loud mouth girl. Anybody else ever had an experience with one of these types of people?

Not quiet, but in the same line...

Hubby and me went to see a horror movie. I tend to concentrate on the movie real hard and really jump when someone pokes me when I am totally absorbed. So I warned him several times before it started that I would kill him if he should dare to poke me during a scary part, and he kept teasing me about it.
To my left, another couple. Guy next to me, then girl. Movie starts.
Scary, scary scene.
Me, one eye on the screen, one eye on hubby in case he pokes me.
...
BLOODCURLING SCREAM TO MY LEFT!!! - the girl had poked the guy, and he went off like a rocket. Panic scream, hysterical jump, top of the lung cursing her because she... you get the picture? Well, me and I guess most of the other people in that room almost suffered a heart attack Laughing

Wow, that sounds annoying. I don't go to movies often, but I've never encountered that before.

As for the movie, it looks great! I really want to see it. Anyway, I read Fangoria a lot and the film wasn't completely one take, but it was very close to being shot all in one take. Interesting tidbit there.

I totally get ya, Addicted ...

I was at a play the other night, and there were a certain group of people to my left that WOULD NOT stop getting their phones out. The seats are of course leveled, so I can even see what they're texting etc (nothing interesting, trust me Razz )
But the actual light from their phone was so distracting. I mean, I don't see a problem using your phone to text someone in a theatre/cinema, but for God's sake ... keep your phone down and not use it as flare for you to be rescued!!!!

And .. not to mention that annoying person in the theatre/cinema who plays with their sweet wrappers ... Suspect

Seriously WTH? She is even screaming at stuff that shouldn't be screamed at. I think the movie people should of kicked her out of the theater.

I've never had that happen before--where someone was screaming at every little thing in a horror movie, but I have had other things happen.

I remember when I went to see "Up Close and Personal" there was a group of really young girls in the 1st or 2nd row laughing and being loud throughout the movie. My friend and I were near the back of the theater and we could hear them over the movie. I went to get a manager and when I came back there was a guy who was sitting a few rows in front of us talking to the girls (telling them to be quiet). Of course they didn't listen to him, but they were escorted out by the manager a few moments later.

Then this other time...this is funny....my ex and I went to see the second "Lord of the Rings" movie and there was this guy in front of us that was cracking us up so much we were more entertained by him than the movie. He was saying stuff like, "Damn Gandolf! Get that demon bull!", and there was a lot of "Oh hell no!" being thrown around by him. It was hilarious.

Wow sounds like everyone else has had to deal with some pretty annoying people too. Kiersten- that's very interesting. I had never seen a movie that had been shot mostly in one take. That was probably the most unique and impressive part of the movie. Bimle- Well if you were truly scared and couldn't help crying then that's not your fault. Its not like you were purposely trying to be a drama queen like this girl was. She could have been truly scared but I doubt it. Like I said, she screamed at things that weren't scary. Sometimes people just want to be loud for attention. If you really can't handle watching horror movies though, I wouldn't watch them. They aren't for everyone. Brunette- I totally get what you mean. Sometimes loud people in horror movies can be entertaining. Not to long ago we saw a horror movie, I don't remember which one it was, I think it might have been Quarantine. Anyway these people behind us were yelling "b*tch you better run!!" And then anytime something scary would happen they'd be like "oh hell no!" Me and my husband thought it was pretty funny... but the people who scream every two seconds or the people who are laughing and being ridiculously loud are just obnoxious.

Addicted: As I said that would also be my last time... At least for now. I might be ready again to try when I get older. Razz
I think the worst kind of people are those who talk loudly with each other at movies. I've tried that a few times - and the people who did it have been both children, young and adults.
My mom has once tried sitting next to a person who said to his friend what happened in the movie before it happened because he had already seen it XD that must be very annoying.

I once had this baby crying in a movie I was in with my friends, which by the way, it was a horror movie. Who the hell brings their freakin new born baby to a movie theatre. Anyway, it was crying so loudly, and the mother would do nothing. Just ignore her child.

Soo I very nicely AND politely, bitched her out and yelled at her to leave the theatre and take care of your kid. It went well. Very Happy

Mik- I don't blame you. Personally I would not take my baby to a movie theater. Babies cry pretty much constantly so she should have known that the baby was going to cause a disturbance. Besides, most of the time if someone is in a public place and their baby starts crying, they will take it out of the room for a moment and try to calm the child down. For her to just sit there and ignore it though is just neglectful.

After reading this. I can't help but be glad that my AMC theatre before the "feature film" but after the "20s" (aka trailers for future movies) has "Don't Spoil the Movie by adding You Own Soundtrack" and usually its starts with the sounds of a baby crying and a phone ringing and a person "yak, yak" and then it has the above.

The Muppets Movie's "Don't Spoil the movie by Adding your own soundtrack" was very funny. Missy Piggy and several other Muppets were @movie theatre and Fozzie Bear was "talking" on a banna and Miss Piggy said coughed" Pete the shrimp? was texting and again Miss Piggy coughed. The Swedish Chef was cooking popcorn in a mircowave and Miss Piggy glared at him.

The theaters in the U.S. have those same messages prior to the film too. Doesn't mean some people will respect it.

Especially if the people doing it are immature.
