Discussion about Kindles.

Post by Paige on Fri Mar 30, 2012 5:18 pm

So I've had my Kindle (the $79 one) for about three months now and I love it. Does anyone else have one? I love reading, like LOVE reading and this opens a wide range of availability. At first I was a bit skeptical because I thought it would be weird not actually having a book in my hands but it is awesome. Amazon also has free books that you can download which are usually a hit and miss. Some days there are tons of good free books and other times there are boring ones or just bad books in general. So what do you think about Kindles or e-Readers in general.

If you don't know which Kindle I have it's this one:

I actually have a kindle, but I rarely use it.

I like the feeling of having a book in my hands, and knowing how far away you are from the end too much to switch to my kindle. Laughing

I have the kindle touch, I love it! It's so much easier than carrying around a bunch of books.

It is definitely a different way of reading books but it is so freaking convenient. I also like how it has a dictionary along with it.

Yeah but I accidentally highlight words on accident sometimes, I'm like I know what the word "sock" means, thanks!

Yeah, that's true. But, I'll just say this. Bookworm freaks like me understand the desire to sniff old books, and kindles will never smell like old book. D:

off-topic. I have read that students are able to remember more stuff from a regular book, than a electronic device.

I swear my sense of smell is only at, like, 50%. Chalk, Stinkbugs, and old books all smell the same to me. Not bad, just... chalky.

That's one thing I do miss, I like the smell of old books usually.

@MadameChung
I think that refers to reading on the Kindle Fires or iPad or any device that is backlighted. But with the kindle I have it uses something called e-ink which mimicks a book, plus it's easier on the eyes. So I beg to differ that one couldn't retain information using a Kindle or any other device where as to a book.
